I agree with this, but at the same time most of what I learned to do myself came from tips from "old timers" who saw me doing something wrong or the hard way and walked up and shared a technique with me. After that I got all the practice and reward without the frustration. Then again I'm a very approachable person who enjoys even the slightest social interaction and see helping as a great way to break the ice with a new neighbor. I've never had a bad response to "Hi neighbor, need any help?"
