I, like so many others, find this situation dependent. But as I am a waterman and will always be, when it is apparent that assistance might be valuable, it is offered.
In years of moving big things and watching others move big things, there are many times that someone cannot see everything and not everyone knows everything they should know. I don't believe that this has not gotten more common i recent years, but everybody seems to be in much more of a hurry.
If I see a situation where there is obvious difficulty that I might mitigate, I will offer a assistance. I offer assistance only. If I do not get a positive response, I get out of the way. Many cases have been rewarding.
