Notice, Free Speech is only free from government restriction. The people who own an online forum have the right to censor/restrict any way they see fit.

However, you also have the right to start your own forum and express any opinion you want.

As humans we make judgements based on appearance every day. Posting those opinions on a public forum is probably not the best idea.

Very few people would respond to your Vanilla trip report, because there is nothing to have an opinion about. I would not even read it unless it was reporting on an area of the country where I was planning a trip of my own. Not trying to be unkind here, just honest. While I am sure your trip was enjoyable to you, Unless there was some spectacular event (either good or bad) in your trip, we all have our own memories of our own trips. If everyone here posted on our vanilla trips, this forum would be overloaded.

On the other hand, your second post (which I've not read) about your opinions on CG residents (whom I assume were misbehaving?) is something most of us have experienced and have an opinion on. So you got a lot of responses and some did not agree with you. I certainly don't defend their snarkiness, but when you post an opinion you will get opinions back.

I sure don't appreciate when a couple of posters take over a thread to argue back and forth repeatedly, with each post escalating the argument. After one back and forth, they need to leave it be. But Now that I've expressed that opinion, There is probably someone who will take issue.:)

First of all, people enjoy reading trip reports - maybe you wouldn't care unless as you say you are planning on visiting that area, but regardless, it's not for anyone to tell someone else what should/should not be posted. Since you are not paying for server space for this forum, I'm not sure why your concerned about filling it up - that's what it is here for.

Secondly, you did not read the second post - which BTW you assumption is wrong, so why are you commenting on it? How can you attempt to make assumptions on something you - by your own admission, have not read? Since the post was deleted, nothing further needs to be said abut it. Like you - not trying to be mean...

Just an observation that the poster was right about couple of things, the trip report got plenty of views but few responses because there was nothing to respond to. It was simply a report of their trip. The 2nd thread got plenty of responses because it stereotyped others that were different than they were. Not saying the poster was even wrong about his intuition concerning them (even though the facts didn't support it), but when you start stereotyping others appearance you will elicit strong opinions. The negative connotation placed on the inhabitants of that CG described a large number of the people in this country who I am certain are not all deadbeat drunk rednecks (my interpretation of description). The fact that they didn't bother him after he set up or steal his stuff would suggest that his descriptors were not well intentioned or thought out but based completely on appearance.

I have been a part of this forum for only a year but have gained a lot of valuable knowledge from it. I have also witnessed the attitude of some and try real hard just to move past it. Some people are just grumpy, some people are just mean spirited, some people are know-it-alls and some are very helpful. I try to be later of all those but understand it takes all kinds to make this world go around. The good thing (for me) is that I have only met the helpful and good spirited ones in the campground :). Seems everyone is happy when they are camping vs being stuck at home wanting to be camping.
