Atwood furnace won't ignite

Sorry for the late reply guys. Posted this for my dad. The blower runs fine. The ignitor is not firing off. Tried to get him to let me dig into it but he's adamant about taking it in. Still under warranty. Thanks for all the information

On an 8500 series, the first thing I try is opening the door and simply unplugging and replugging the main circuit board connector. Because they are right in the return air, the connections can get corroded there. An easy quick check. From there see if the board is getting power between top and bottom wires.

Light stove top burners to get propane flowing.

Then try furnace...may take several attempts IF furnace functions


IF furnace has problems then get it fixed first.

You have to give us more info:

Is the propane turned on?
Do you have propane in the tank?
Does the fan turn on?
Can you hear a click in the thermostat when you raise the temp?
Is the switch on auto?
Did you take voltage readings at furnace?
IS the furnace getting a signal from the thermostat?

Without more info, it's tough to tell if the problem is at the thermostat, the furnace or the 12V system.

I had a similar issue with my furnace last week, everything looked good, the fan turned on,propane pressure was good but burner would not ignite.
I "hotwired" the thermostat and I was getting voltage at furnace. I downloaded the wiring diagram and worked backwards. Not sure what the problem was (I suspect a bad connection as the furnace has not been used since last winter) - but I removed each of the connections and re-insterted them, Then I found that there is a switch (fuse?) on the front of the fan (when you remove the cover) - I turned this off and back and hey presto the furnace is working again.

Again not sure of the problem - but probably a bit of corrosion somewhere and my putzing around cleaned off any corrosion.
