No alterations means just that. I want a vehicle I can hook to the RV and go without removing fuses, adding pumps, stopping every 200 miles to run the engine and the like. Also like I said originally I must have an automatic for the wife in case she has to drive. If she could handle a stick I wouldn't have asked advice in the first place. And since she likes SUVs, the CRV 4x4, auto, naturally is going to get serious attention. If no one has a particular similar vehicle to advise you may feel free to skip this thread.
A Honda Fit automatic is towable without mods beyond baseplate, lights and braking system, and weighs about 2600 pounds.
I don't know about pulling fuses, my Fit is manual transmission and I can keep the steering unlocked without turning the ignition on to power anything.
There is no automatic transmission car (other than 4x4 with neutral in the transfer case) that does not have to be periodically run to relubricate. There are few manual transmission cars that don't have to periodically run for lubrication. If you make that a requirement, almost nothing is towable.
