- jnharleyExplorerThat is the main reason we do not like camping under trees. We want wide open spaces.
- rockhillmanorExplorer III was parked right ON the Mississippi at a CG when the tornado warnings came out. I packed up and headed to the back of the CG. My thought was when it tipped over my coach and toad I wanted to be on solid ground and NOT flipped over and floating down the raging Mississip!
I Ran back and helped an elderly couple next to me get their RV off the banks too when the guy on the other side to me in a Prevost made the comment that it is no big deal and he stayed there........
In the morning trees had hit and damaged the top of his MH but that wasn't his biggest concern to them. Almost dieing was. They said they laid on the floor of their rocking MH when it hit and thought they were going to die. - dieharderExplorer

North of Ottawa?
Yep. We had to pretty nasty storms this past summer around here. We even cancelled a weekend in July last minute to be a little safer in the sticks and bricks when we planned to be a couple of hours away in a KOA. That was a particularly bad weekend of weather all weekend. - BB_TXNomadHappened at a campground in southern Colorado we were at several years ago when high winds moved thru. Fortunately the campground told all RVers in a specific part of the campground where there were a lot of similar tall (pine/spruce) trees to move to the other end. Good thinking as several of the trees did fall over. Only casualty was a new Dodge quad cab dually. Tree fell on the roof and smashed it flat.
- USARMYCWExplorerAlmost happened to me a coupla years ago @ Ft. McCoy, WI.
The campground had asked me to move to another site and I put it off till the next morning. Checked the site before moving and a big ole tree had fell where my MH would have been. Sometimes procrastination pays off. - VeebyesExplorer IIBet the local RV dealers were smiling.
- naturistNomadAhhh, that'll buff right out.
Sorry for that family's ordeal, hope no one was hurt. In the meantime, +1 from me, @Tin_Pusher. Wherever you are, watch out for those trees.
BTW, you knew, I trust, that human beings were invented by grass as a weapon in the war with trees . . . . - Tin_PusherExplorer IITrees, they're killers. Can't trust 'em :)
- rockhillmanorExplorer IIJudging from the debris all over the ground that must have been one heck of a storm and high winds to crack a tree like that.
I had a tornado touch down at a CG I was at. Scared doesn't even begin to explain what it feels like to be in an MH during something like that.
Hope the owners where in the back section when that tree came down. - DtaylorExplorerThat's a lot of fire wood!
