I have to agree with many of the posters. The Pros outweigh the Cons. I owned RVs both with and without slide toppers and will never have another one without. To me the biggest advantage is the shade they provide to the slide roof reducing the heat load Most slide roofs are not as well insulated as the main body. As far as flapping is concerned I have not found it to be a major issue. If the topper is properly adjusted it takes a strong wind blowing from the exactly right direction to cause a major amount of flapping. If it flaps with a regular breeze then it needs adjustment.
