Awning Screen

Anyone try one of these? Thing about just the main section, not the ends, to block the sun.

Screen

Wondering if they are worth thew effort or if they end up like screen rooms, seldom if ever used.
  • We bought one from camping world and like it. Gives extra privacy and cuts sun glare. Easy to install and remove on our electric awning.
  • We also use the twin track with out screen. That way I can still have my awning lights.

Made my own from Shade Cloth from Walmart. Total cost under $25. I've used it several weeks out of 3 years but only when in a sunny site that won't allow positioning other than 'awning to the west'.

When needed it was great but have not needed it much. It is very light and doesnt take up much room.

X2 I also did the same and used about the same.
  • I totally agree with tvman44! I got a 20 footer(too wide, so cut it down) at Harbor Freight. Was $20ish! Had the grommets and hems already done. Let's the air through but direct, hot sun out.
We can't use it often as we can't deploy our awning very much. Too windy. But have it ready when/if we need it.
  • If you just want to block one end, we use a Mesh Tarp from Harbor Freight and hang it from the groove in the awning roller and it works great. Much cheaper than anything else we have seen. :)
  • I recently got a heck of a Craigslist deal on screening. I'm getting the rest of my supplies this week and will soon be making shade screens and screen walls for our ez-up canopy.
  • We have had one for about 3 years and love it, it has a 1' drop with zipper that stays on the awning, we us it at every campsite not only for shade but for privacy also...:)
  • We use an oscillating fan to keep the bugs away. Prevents me from having to look at the scenery through a screen. I have a screen tent that I set up and then drag the picnic table into. It is always filled with bugs - go figure.
