b and w hitch adjusting

Have a 2012 super duty and bought a 3300 companion for ford prep.
Base is really snug fitting into pucks so asking did any of you with this hitch in ream or ford have to loosen the top nuts a bit to fit?
I want them snug but figure I will have to loosen them off a full turn.

On the Ford 6 3/4 box are some of you using the arms in the forward position? I guess this will take some trial and error.

Thanks for responses.
  • Have it installed and needed a bit of adjusting to plug into the pucks. Moved the arms to back position and will try a tow Saturday for the shakedown run and take the tools to adjust if necessary.
  • On the Ford SD 6 3/4 bed, the axle center is about 41 inches back from cab. I would stay at least 40"s behind cab, with the arms back, at least until you figure out backing clearance issues. I have no problem with pin center 40"s behind cab, but every trailer will be different.

Yes, if you back/twist tight enough, you will at some point hit the cab.
