My Dad had to use a catheter due to an enlarged prostrate. I know it's different from what you have. He would get Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) every couple of months. I did some research and found that many people were able to prevent infections by using D-Mannose. It is a powder or capsule form derived from birch trees. It's a type of sugar that is not asborbed by your body so diabetics can use it. It prevents the bacteria from attaching so they get flushed out instead of hanging around causing problems.
I would give him 5 capsules a day when I knew he had a UTI coming on. The UTI would go away quickly. And one capsule a day to prevent UTIs. The D-Mannose worked well. I was taking my Dad to the ER about every 3 months due to UTIs. Once I began using the D-Mannose there were no more trips to the ER in over 3 years.
D-Mannose can be found online or at most health or vitamin stores.
