bad knees

well I finally had my total knee replacement Monday and am back in our 5th wheel Wednesday. we will spend 2 weeks recovering here in eastern wa and back to the coast for physical therapy for a few weeks. we were really hopping to be at warmer climates by now but had to deal with the VA healthcare's scheduling. it will all work out. we are snug and comfortable here and I think they did a great job on my knee. challenging getting in and out of the trailer but doable.
fulltimers do not need to fear major health issues. they can be worked around.
  • My husband had two knee replacements. Physical Therapy is very important. He was in the hospital one night and two day later I drove him to physical Therapy. I believe it was 3 days a week for two months.
Knee replacements are very painful, my husband thought back surgery was a breeze compared to a knee replacement. Good Luck and hoping for a speedy recovery.
  • Good news! With your positive attitude you will fully recover.
  • Nice to hear it's going well. Keep us posted how it goes. I think many of us secretly have the worry over physical limitations and how it will impact RVing. Hearing from those that have health/medical limits but still RV is always encouraging.
  • Glad to hear it well for you. My only advice is, do your therapy and exercises.
I had a TKR eight years ago. Four weeks after surgery I was running my snowblower. I bounced back quickly. It sounds like you will do the same.
I'm sure you have realized by now, a new knee is a BIG improvement.
    Good luck.
