Battery Charging Question

My battery is not charging while hooked up to shore power. When I turn on anything which runs off the battery, I do not hear the cooling fan turn on, so I suspect that the converter has stopped working.

I plan to take it in under warranty, but have one more short trip planned. Shore power will be available, but I will need to use some things that are usually powered by the battery. I have a battery charger, so my question is; can I connect the charger to the battery while still using things that are powered by the battery, such as the thermostat for heat, etc. Thanks in advance for your response.
  • Yes, you can have a battery charger connected while using the 12v system. Here is a way to check the converter if you don't have a volt meter. Disconnect one of the battery cables, plug trailer into shore power and see if you have interior lights.
