What's the deal with the bearing buddies or they good or bad for the axles?

They have no effect good or bad on the axles. They will blow out the inner bearing seal and grease either your brakes or the back side of the wheel/tire.
The EZ lube type system is entirely different and work well if you follow the instructions.
