Here's another observation. I can easily slide the outer bearing onto the spindle. If I place the bearing so that it's right at the spindle shoulder (basically as far onto spindle as would be allowed by the washer) and then spin the bearing the whole thing will spin - eg I can easily spin it on the spindle. I cannot feel any slop on the spindle though.
[edit] maybe that's ok. Since there's no slop, once things start to warm up I suspect the bearing and spindle will be a tighter fit. [/edit]
