re: tape. There's what, about 3/8" between the seal and inner bearing race? Feed the tape through the center of the inner bearing and just after the seal makes it over the shoulder, and before the bearing slides on, pull the tape out slowly as you support the drum with your hand. Maybe my axles are layed out differently than others. You can put a red marker mark at the very end of the tape to make sure you got it all.
Actually, I used a small Dremel stone and just spin it with my fingers around the grease hole. You can mount it in the drill if you want, but all you need to do is knock the edge of the hole down a little. Probably if you just do that, the tape wont be necessary.
Just remember, don't check for freewheel by grabbing the drum and spinning it with your fingers behind the back edge. They'll be sucked into the backing plate and the blood will fly. It really hurts, but you'll only do it once.
