Bed height question for 5th wheel towing

Hello, I have a question I could not really find a decent answer to, so I thought I would ask people with a bit more experience.

I have a flat bed F-350, which has a bed height of 42", the lowest 5th wheel hitch I can find is 10". This would put my hitch at 52" (pre-compression), is that too high for most 5th wheels?

Sorry if this is an obvious question, but google searches mostly revolved around bed rail height being an issue, and not the bed height itself.

  • Thanks for the replies. It is good to know that my bed height should not be an issue.
  • While a 42" bed height is quite tall, most FW hitches are 14-15"s at low setting. With a 10" hitch, you would be about average.
