If this CG is not paradise I'm pretty sure you can see it from here. We are in the North Fork CG-USFS,(the Big Wood River), 5 minutes north of Sun Valley Idaho. The nearest and only other folks are 300 yards back up the road, we are 30' from the riverand daytime temps in the high 50's to low 60's. Got down to 26 last night but we hould see low 70's over the next few days. Too gorgeous for words (sorry I can't post a pic).Best part might just be the price, five, yes 5 bucks a night(after Dept 15th) and our geezer pass makes it two fifty per night!!! Two nights here and off to Stanley and the nearby hot springs. What a great trip!

Since you don't know how to post a photo here, I found one and am posting it for you.This was taken a few months ago in the area you are talking about.Were you lucky enough to get out when the evacuation order was issued.

Mine would have to be on the left off US-1 prior to Key West. I believe it is close to Marathon. We have never stayed there but it looks picture perfect every time we drive past. It is right on the water and one can hop on their boat and head straight down through the Keys.

They leave lots of tracks and scat, also found some good sized mountain lion prints right where the Elk come in. No we don't wlk in the woods at night. I'm postong from a small tablet and pics don't post, I'll have some great shots for everyone once we get home ina few weeks.

Got home today and now can post a pic or two. Here is a shot of our site at the North Fork CG, just north of Sun Valley Idaho. The Big Wood River is about 10 yards left of the coach. Not too bad for $2.50 a night and the neighbors were Elk and Mountain Lions:

Don't come to Maryland the CG's all stink . You will go crazy trying to get to one because of the traffic and crazy drivers. When we go to a short weekend we go to WV , PA , VA they are much better campgrounds . I like Harpers Ferry WV , Gettysburg it's just a great place to camp. The east is much different than the west when it comes to camping unless you go to Maine. Maine is one of my favorite places to go if you want space.

One of our favorite RV parks was the KOA in Saco, Maine.

Park was above average, BUT they served fresh blueberry pancake in the morning and evening served blueberry pie a la mode. Delicious! They also made pizzas, however, being a family campground - no beer IIRC.:B

You are welcome! We could not be more delighted to be here, it is indeed a privilige. It is hard to believe that thebest is yet to come but they say Stanly is the very best of Idaho... We will find out tomorrow.

Cap'n, you're making me sick. That area is one that I went to as a kid, camping with my parents. Idaho, IMO, is one of the most underrated scenery areas ever. Hopefully we only have 13 months of this work stuff left, so my long awaited trip is almost a reality. Would be great if we ran into you up there!
