Best Gravity Drop Toilet?

There are lots of toilets out there and they all seem pretty similar.

However, I've noticed the plastic ones I've owned tend to stain and get scale on them down where the bowl ends, just before the valve on the gravity drop models.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to the lightest weight and most porcelain like gravity toilet I can buy?

  • Despite my SA comment in post 2, we use 'The Works' toilet bowl cleaner. I use it in my RV toilet and shower and my plastic shower enclosure at home to remove scale and stains. Works well, don't harm the finish either.

Of course a portable Loo works too. Straight drop for sure.

We had a plastic toilet for years. The porcelain are nice but the plastic are nice for being light. We noticed that the plastic did seem to stain but you would be amazed at how the stains disappear if you use a piece of damp paper towel and baking soda and give the bowl a wipedown (don't drop paper towel in the holding tank, though). We use the same trick on our porcelain as it does seem to clean better than any of the chemicals (that we are reluctant to use).
  • We've been very pleased with our Thetford Aqua Magic Style Plus porcelain bowl toilet. We originally bought it in 2008 to replace a damaged toilet in our previous coach, and liked it so well we swapped it into our current coach when we bought it. We use a standard bowl cleaner that removes mineral scale with minimal scrubbing.

I think they are all about the same. Get a porcelain RV one of any make or model. You can't stop scales. That's from the water. But what you clean it with can be more robust than what you use on the plastic toilets. Just remember, whatever goes down the toilet, ends up in some kind of sewage treatment, even if that's a septic tank. So use chemicals smartly.

Ok. The scale just doesn't scrub off the plastic ones in my experience but breaks off somewhat easily on porcelain.

    Thanks.

Any one think any model has more reliable valves and all of that?

  • We sell a lot of Dometic 310s and 320s. The extra $50 for the 320 gets you a rim that prevents splash back.
