Best way to clean an awning.

I cup bleach, good squirts of dawn to one gallon water in a pump sprayer. Make sure after unrolling awning to thoroughly rinsing awning especially at stitching.

I don't think anyone has mentioned the bleach concentration.

is that critical to preventing any damage to the awning?

I use Tilex as well but old clothes and down wind spraying is needed. Rinse it off after is sits a bit and then follow up with a brush and soapy water makes it look new.

I used dishwasher, not dish washing, soap. It doesn't contain bleach but is pretty strong. I'm not a fan of using bleach unless it's really necessary. The dishwasher soap did a fine job on our ours.

Any Tilex equivilent with bleach should work.

I'm wondering about the content - do they have a rant and rave section in the news letter? Maybe a tire expert advice column? Do they sit around the camp fire at the rally discussing dog poop and keeping people out of your camp site?

Some wash water and bleach will make it sparkle

I use only a Mr. Clean Magic eraser. I go over both side of the awning in the Spring of the year, and then it's just a simple touch up, a simple wipe to get dead bugs off the rest of the year. Granted, it's a little work, but the results are great! And the black stuff doesn't come back. Bugs do, but not the black!

Could you stand on the roof and spray the Tilex on the top of the awning as it was rolled up? Wouldn't that spread the Tilex to the underside of the awning at the same time? All without getting Tilex on yourself.

Of course I read this just AFTER we used the power washer and scrub brushes to clean our awning not getting it so clean.
