I have used both of these with a yagi antenna in my Outback. Mounted the yagi onto the TV antenna and used it to raise above other trailers and aim. We used the Red Roof Inn Internet (about a mile away) and the County Fairgrounds (1/2 mile away) with great success. I kept the wireless portion turned off and ran through an Apple Airport Express...seamless integration with all our devices since everything was already paired to it....
The Voltage has a Wifi Ranger in it. It does OK, but I have used the Alfa hardware and yagi to bring in signals that the Ranger could not see....then I would share and broadcast through the ranger.
On a side note, the Alfa products will help with cell phone signals also, great when in a pinch with weak cell reception.
