BIKE TRAIL GULF STATE PARK, AL

Good morning, hope I pose this question in the right forum. I have made reservations for winter 2015/16 at Gulf State Park, Gulf Shores, AL. I was wondering if anyonne knows if there is a bike trail that runs from the state park campground over to the local Wal Mart. I have vision issue, so I don't drive anymore, but still can ride the bicycle. I will need to get to Wal Mart to get groceries. I remember seeing a bike trail in the park heading that way, but can't remember if it goes to another city trail that passes in front of Wal Mart. Does anyone have this info to share. Possible a site that I could go to and see a map of the trail. I have looked at Google Earth and can not see a trail going that way but I may be missing it. Thanks for you help.

    Using Google Earth, I can see a series of trails that lead to the Walmart entrance on Ft Morgan Rd. Part of the trail appears to be a wide lane along the road for .3 mi, but other parts are separate from the car traffic. There are stoplights at the entrance for you to cross the road safely.

    I've "clicked it off" (the red line is the bike path) and it's 2.83 miles - probably 3 miles by the time you get to the front door. Walmart on the left; State Park on the right

    The bike trail does not go to Walmart, but you can ride on the edge of the road. The speed limit is 35 mph.

    Hi Jayco noslide, thanks for the info. slowly I am learning about the park and te area. By this time I will probably know what I want.

    We've camped there a lot and there is access to a great bike trail by biking about 1/2 mile from the back of the campground to the trail. I don't think the trail actually gets you quite to Walmart but it's close. So I think you would have to ride or walk a little ways on the street and not sure how that would work out for you.

    Hi twogypies. Thanks for the info. Love these forums. As you say hang in there and the info will come. Full hookups. Yep, nice. South for the next winter.

    RE: Sewer hookups.....there are 496 sites and all are full hookup.

    We haven't been there in a while so not sure where the Wal Mart is and if you can bike to it. Hang in there...someone will answer.

    I need to ask though...if you have vision problems and can't drive, how are you getting the RV there? If someone else is driving, couldn't they take you to Wal Mart?

    Hi Dick B, I have done a Google search, and read a number of things but didn't find out about a bike trail going from the dampground over to the stores. I will keep at it till I know what for sure.

    Hi lj2654, I already left a message on their voicemail. The reason I called, someone said that there were not any sewer hookups. Well I need to know that for sure. Because I don't have a blue tote. Will have to get one and make provisions to pull a blue tote behind my bicycle. And I will ask them about bike trails.

    X2 call the park. In the meantime do a Google search for `Gulf Shores, AL bike trail' and read on.

    Call the State Park and ask them, they will be able to tell you!
