Don't know how much you want to spend, but bikes like the Electra Townie that use "flat foot" technology are much more comfortable to ride. The seat does not sit directly over the sprocket(pedals) as it is slanted back at 30+ degrees. They are not cheap, but offer a comfortable, and seemingly easily controlled ride. Electra is not the only one using this technology. Shop around before you buy.
