I am 57, and I had not owned a bike for 30 years.
I have fibromyalgia and OA as well as other issues. Last year Hubby and I bought bikes. We didn't buy expensive (around 500 each), but we bought 18 speed mountain bikes.
We have changed the seats, added bags. We looked at other bikes but thought of where we camp. We never ride on pavement.
Take your parents to buy the bikes, each one is different. You can measure but you need to feel how the bike fits your body. I measure for an adults bike but bought a youths it fit. Buy the bikes where somebody knows exactly what they are selling.
