I am in the 60 group and I ride a bike alot. I reached my goal last year of 100 miles a week average for 5200+ miles for the year.
I started after a knee replacement 7 years ago best thing I did for my knee. I started on a "garage sell" Fuji mountain bike. I how ride a Trek road bike. When asked I tell people to start on something used and it they are still riding in 6 months to look to up grade from there. In 6 months you will know how you like to ride, where, when etc. You will also have a idea what to look for in a bike.
I ride a bike trail here. This time of year there are alot of new bikes on the trails. Alot of those new bikes end up in a garge sells. If you know what to look for, you can find a lot of nice bikes that sell for alot less then they were new.
I take a bike with me when ever we travel. I have a goal now to ride in every National Park. going to Big Bend this week with a stop a Carlsdad Caverns to check those two off my list.
