Never had a problem.
Us too. Really cleans out the tank. - oldtrojan66ExplorerOk, well, we made it to where we are! There's a brilliant statement, huh? No issues with the tank on the road. We did have very good roads here (for Indiana) and I tried to avoid the "whoop-de-dos" where ever there is a bridge or culvert. That seems to be a constant source of road issues.
The tank was pretty full, from time to empty, so I didn't have long to wait anyway. I also use a tank chemical and Borax to soften the water and stuff. Used to use Calgon, but have had a really hard time finding it. Had to order the last online. Borax is still available a lot of places.
Thanks again, to all who took time to respond. I can always count on my fellow road warriors to come through in a pinch! Stay safe, Y'all!! - TrackrigExplorer III've seen Flying Js charge from $0 when you show them your card to $10 regardless if you have a card. I asked why the difference and was told that they were independently owned and could do things like this however they wanted.
Bill - Second_ChanceExplorer IIWe dump before traveling but often refill about 1/4 with fresh water (with the black tank rinser) and add a cup of dish washing liquid and 1/2 cup borax crystals before towing. As mentioned, this helps clean out the tank and the clear crud off the sensors (though rarely all the way on the bottom sensor). Our black tank is in front of the trailer axles and, since we're close to the rear axle capacity on the truck, we rarely, if ever, tow with the waste tanks full.

Thanks for the responses. I've got probably a couple or three days left before I have to dump. I am going slowly and will check the maps for a free dump station on the way. Does anyone know if Flying J charges? I can call them.
FJ does charge, I think it is 5 bux - FizzExplorerWhenever we hit the road I dump the tank and half fill it with water then put in a cup of laundry detergent.

We do this a lot. It sloshes the contents around and helps make sure it all comes out when you do dump (no stuck paper inside). We have never experienced a problem doing this with TT or now our TC.
X2 in our class A. If it has been less than 5 days since we last dumped and we know a dump will be available where we are going, we wait. - rockhillmanorExplorer II

Getting ready to leave a place we have been for a couple months. I have dumped before, but it's nearly time again. I just wondered if it would hurt anything to tow about 2 hrs to the next place then dump?
I'd take a flashlight to the toilet first before take off to see just how high it is! You just might want to dump long before that 2 hour bumpy drive!:B
If you've never done this, all you do is take a flash light and open the blade on the toilet with the foot pedal and quickly put the flashlight on the opening. The foot pedal activates the water so if you think you are full up don't dawdle looking.
If it is right at the tippy top I wouldn't wait the whole 2 hours trip I'd find the first dump station. And of course I wouldn't use the toilet during the trip either or that stuff is going to come right into the bowl with the first flush! :W - djousmaExplorerIt wont hurt the tank. What kind of a RV is this? How close are you to your GVWR? Usually the waste tanks are not located close to the axles like the fresh water tank is, so it could change your tongue weight in a negative way if you are running close to max.
On my old TT, the Black and bathroom gray tanks were at the far rear of the trailer. This would lower my tongue weight, and could cause some instability. On a 5th Wheel the waste tanks are usually located way forward of the wheels, and would add considerable pin weight.
