Either away works well as long as it's done properly. I use blow the lines as I'm doing other winterizing chores then add the antifreeze. If you set up the bypass valves correctly, don't get any antifreeze into your water heater or fresh water tank, then do a quick flush when dewinterizing, you won't get the funny taste.
