Blue Ox vs ???
While I am shopping I see a lot of Blue Ox. Also Roadmaster and other brands? I know Blue Ox is supposed to be THE one to buy but any other recommendations?

I use Blue Ox system including the Patriot. Over last 2 years I have towed my car over 20,000 miles without a problem. It's really hard to say just how well the aux. braking system is working because the car is under 3,000 lbs and the mh is 20,000. A few weeks ago one of the legs on the Patriot broke and because the base is plastic, I wanted to order a new base. I have contacted Blue Ox who will NOT replace the base unless I send the unit and they will upgrade the software, replace the battery and they want $110. I don't need all of that , just the base. SO, I recommend you check the manufacturers to see what they do in event repairs are required to any of the equipment you buy. The Patriot is just So-So anyway and I was going to check out other brake systems in anticipation of a trip to Alaska next year. At least now I know what I will NOT be buying.
