Boondocking and unhooking

Heading to New England in a 22' TT but don't want to haul the trailer with us everywhere we go. Can't unhook at WM, or truck stops, or casinos, and we don't know anyone in New England. Any suggestions on how/where we can "camp" and safely unhook the trailer for several hours while we are out sightseeing?
  • Are you planning on going this time of year? Most campgrounds are closed for the winter, and you probably will not find any good boondocking places east of the Mississippi.

You can check this site. FreeCampgrounds.com

Many of the free places are boondocking out west, however some suggestions are places like a tire shop or church.

My guess is look for a church and park it there for a few hours. You might also check Home Depot or Lowes.

  • At a campground. Seriously!

Unless there are some real "boondocks" (open Public land where no-fee camping is allowed) nearby, that's really your only option for unhooking/leaving the trailer.
  • Most any RV park or campground will let you unhook for only about $35.00 a day
  • If I was wanting to unhook and leave the RV alone for a bit, I would probably stay at a park, or way out in the boonies.
