Great news on the aids!! I'm always happy to "hear" of people taking the plunge and just getting a set. I resisted for many years, mostly because I thought I was to young to be having to wear them! I got my first set when I was 20 and stopped wearing them but now I've been wearing them steady since I was about 40 and I haven't looked back. I know you didn't ask for advice but I would like to offer some to you anyway because I would hate to see you get discouraged. Wearing them in the real world is different than just for a short time in the store. Anyway the piece of advice I would offer is wear them in short stints. I know when I first got mine if I wore them for to long in the beginning I became very stressed and anxious. It takes your brain awhile to decipher all the new sounds you are now hearing and figure out which you want to hear and which you don't. Going to a restaurant is a great example of this. It took awhile for me to "stop" hearing all the other conversations, air conditioner, wait staff stacking plates etc etc and just listen to the folks in my party. Anyway I just know I used to get very discouraged in the beginning but I found if I gave my brain a rest by removing them and then putting them back in it was a huge help. Everyday I could wear them for longer periods of time and pretty soon.....yes I definitely have forgotten to take them out in the shower!! Why is this shower so loud???!!! Oh sh%%!!!! LOL
