Bought used coach from General RV with some rot issues

Recently purchased a 2007 fiver from a General RV in Orange Park FL. Bought a "hitch to bumper" 2 year Cornerstone extended warrantee. Noticed small damage to masonite trim at the PDI, but was assured it was isolated damage and the coach was fully checked out for water damage and rot and was "solid as a rock". Had it in my possession about 2 weeks and went to move the jackknife couch and found the whole corner of the slide out rotted and full of black mold. The couch was actually moved (switched with the dinette) to conceal the damage. Took it back to dealer and NO coverage by warrantee and NO chance they are going to fix damage. they want 3 grand just to repair (not replace in entirety) plywood floor and seal up the leaks, NOT including carpet, trim, or wall paneling that I would be willing to pay for! I am going to pick it back up as I will be damned if they ever get another penny out of me. So pissed at myself for trusting the service techs at the PDI I will be kicking myself for a long time on this one. Oh and thats the last extended warrantee I will ever buy. Next time I will just stick that $1900 in a savings account and put it towards any repairs. I am just going to calmly walk away and never darken their door again. This is our 6th trailer and far from our last (we are LIFERS :)), they have no idea how much their greed will cost them.

I agree you should be able to cancel the extended service contract and get your money back.

I am going to the dealer tomorrow to pick up the fiver, and will be asking about this before I leave. At the very least I will be filing a complaint with cornerstone to see if I can switch the "home" dealer to another place for the lower deductible. If I cannot cash out my warrantee I will definitely make sure to try to get my money's worth out of it before I am done. The coach has Carrier AC and they are getting harder to get parts for and may need to be replaced if there is a problem.

Forgot to mention the brake wiring shorted out and melted down on the initial trip home. The did fix that but took them a week so in all honesty I haven't even had this fiver in my possession half the time I've owned it!
  • I don't like resorting to legal remedies but if they moved the couch and you can prove that, this is outright fraud. Perhaps worth a call to an attorney. Maybe an issue for the local news as well on not honoring an extended warranty they recently sold for what is clearly a pre-existing condition that they either knew about or should have.

I would look for a independent shop to do the work, their price's are better then dealers.

I'm having a slideout floor replaced in a Wildwood, they are using a 12' sheet of plywood made for the slideout.

  • Depending on how badly the flooring is, there may be other options. I used this on a small area of our roof and was very pleased with the results. Not the best way to repair but certainly adequate to get many more years of service from our rig without the expense of a rebuild. Read the information and watch the videos...maybe there is a chance it can help!

  • It seems a lie is nothing now days. But then I have heard that some forms of sex aren't actually sex anymore and that comes from a very high up source. In their minds it was solid as a rock, it's just that their idea of solid rocks is different than yours.

Sorry to hear of your pain.
