as mentioned toss the factory shocks and go with bilsteins. Did that on my 04 duramax and 15 duramax. way better control when towing and helped a lot on concrete roads as OP described and frost heaves.
Next thing that will make night and day improvement is an Air Safe air hitch.
Now the Air safe makes an incredible difference in smoothing out the ride on almost any road. However (a) it is one heavy hitch, pushing 100lbs and (b) pretty spendy,
So for us it is well worth it for the amount of travel we do, 5K or miles/year and 2-3 months of traveling. Now if you only travel locally or only a few weeks/year the air safe may not make sense.
But the Bilsteins....... absolutely go for them.
