Boy did I have a great experience!

The DW and I are currently on the road in the Pacific Northwest, she noticed that the outside rear dual looked low and brought it to my attention. We are parked in the Mill Casino RV Park in North Bend/Coos Bay OR and there is a Les Schwab Tire Store nearby and the chain is well regarded up here. I called the North Bend store with very poor response and then called the Coos Bay store, the woman that answered the call asked if I would speak to their mobile guy, I reluctantly agreed. Tyler came on the line, I told him my story, I’d been having trouble with the flexible stem extenders and was sure the inside dual was flat and probably due to the loose extender. Having just dealt with a mobile RV tech I wanted to know how much the service call would be. He told me no charge and if it is just the valve stem or the extension as long as he doesn’t have to take the tire off the rim, NO CHARGE! And no, I did not buy the tires from Les Schwab, I live in SoCal and they were purchased there. No Charge for coming out and checking for the problem .

Turns out as I truly feared the tire was visibly damaged and I needed a new tire. He called the shop and another mobile guy had just come in and he immediately brought a new tire out for me. I’m thinking okay this is going to cost a bunch. I recently had a damaged tire replaced and it was over $600 at home. They are Michelin Tires and really expensive right. Well the bill was $550. Even though it was my fault and the damaged tire was four years old, I got a allowance due to very low tread wear.

The whole thing from first call to finish and them driving off, less than two hours and an allowance for low tread wear. I’m a happy camper.
  • I buy tires from Les Schwab’s because they took care of my wife with a flat while she was out of town and at no cost. They were OEM tires and easily seen not the brand they well.
  • OP Maybe time for TPMS? A blowout can be very expensive.

Also flexible tire stem extenders? Unfortunately extenders are always a potential source for a leak. Recommend all extenders be removed and then replaced with solid valve stems like the Borg dually valve extenders.

I've had a good experience at most LS stores. However like many tire stores not all are knowledgeable of RV applications.
  • Hope Les Schwabs keeps up the good service. Used to like them, but a couple local stores around here have gone to c rap.
I probably use (used to, now only if necessary) Schwabs once a month on avg between personal and company rigs. 3x now in the last year or so they’ve gone stoopid on me though.
Once, couldn’t read where to put the swapped tires on my truck. Got 1 of 4 correct. I guess yellow paint pen is not visible enough....
Argued with me because I wanted trailer tires balanced. And most recently refused to mount non Schwab purchased tires.
  • We used to recommend LS to everyone, they took care of us, but in the last 10 years, the local stores have gone downhill. Had a bad experience, figured it was just a bad day for that employee, but multiple times and when I spoke to the manager, same BS.

We use Costco or Discount tire now. In fact, we are going to replace our travel trailer tires soon (had a blowout, need at least one) and am thinking Goodyear Endurance, but might look at some LT. Les Schwab is not in the running due to past service.
  • We had a couple experiences with LS, both good. If use them in the area again. I think like any chain there are good and bad franchises.
