brake controller installation

I am installing a brake controller on a 2014 Ford Flex. I haven't been able to locate the stop light wire under the dash. If anyone has any information on locating the wire it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Engine oil cooler or ATF cooler or both? Highly recommend more than just a "short ATF tube inside the radiator" level of ATF cooling.

Custom wiring a brake controller isn't that big a deal. I like to find where the TV harness plugs into the brake pedal switch itself and add another wire there rather than relying on a snap lock type device. But to each his own. There is certainly nothing mystical about a ready-made plug that makes a vehicle more "tow-worthy" than a similar vehicle that lacks it.
  • I am just looking for the brake light wire. I have already connected the other wires for the controller and the 7 pin trailer connector. Still need to add the oil cooler and I have the equivalent of the factory tow package.

I can't find the wire at the brake pedal.

if you don't have the factory tow package, it doesn't have the wiring for a brake controller.

i'm not aware of the controller working with just the stop light wire.
how will you deal with the 7-pin trailer connector?

no way would i use a Flex without the factory tow package, to tow anything, especially something that requires a brake controller.

I think he's just looking for the brake light wire. But I would agree with what you are saying.
