I thought a brake away system was cables from your base plate to car frame to go with the cables that go from your rv to car.

    Those are safety cables.

A breakaway system applies and locks the car's brakes if the car breaks away from the MH.

  • FYI I found a way behind the fender well after removing the plastic well cover it took about 2 1/2 hours.
  • A word of caution. If you have to drill through the firewall be very careful!!!! I needed a run through the firewall in my new 2014 Explorer and nicked the wiring harness. Almost $3,000 dollars to fix. Lucky for me insurance covered all but $400.
  • I already have the base plate installed I am just trying to route the wire for the breakaway.

Go here and plug in the make and model of your toad. It gives great pictures and instructions how to install base plate setups specific to that model car. It also provides instructions for all the wiring diagrams etc.pertaining to that model car.
