Breckenridge, Colorado fire...
Folks might have heard of the Breckenridge fire even on national news that started yesterday. Anyone familiar with Summit County and knows where Tiger Run RV resort is then the fire is about 2-3 miles due west of that park. It is atop the Gold hill area along the Colorado Trail near Peak 2.
While the Breckenridge Fire is not the largest in Colorado, it is perhaps one that affect more people. The Peak 7 neighborhood is under mandatory evacuation and the Town of Breckenridge is on stand-by.
The fire which is some 80+ acres in currently not under control. officials expect flair ups to occur today and depending on wind directions and strength it may not be under control even later.
Folks, if you are camping in the backwoods, please be careful and be aware of the surrounding and have your own self situational awareness on high alert. My method of RV'ing is the truck camper... in my neck of the woods in the High Country allows me to get high-up and deeper into the back country when compared to most other types of RV's.
I am able to get to these close places with very little effort but will most likely not be doing any camping this summer- it is to dry. Yes, there are fire bans in effect but what concerns me would be getting out of a situation should a fire start- I will not be camping this year.
