All scales used in commerce need to be certified so DMV should accept any ones weigh slip

Surely your local DMV office can tell you where to get it weIghed at a location they will recognise?

Only ones I am seeing are in Dexter, which based on a map looks a little further away than Fowlerville.

deerone--Never thought of scrap yards. There are a couple real close by. Not sure if the state will accept their readings, though.

I-94, Exit 167 there are 3 CAT Scales (one at each truck stop), looks like it's about 20 miles from Brighton.

Check with area gravel pits and scrap yards.

The MI plates are based on GVWR not actual weight I believe. It has been a few years since I have had to plate one. Is this a homemade trailer?

Never mind. I just looked and it is empty weight. If you have a title or is there is payload sticker I would think the GVWR is less than 2,500 lbs so that should prove the empty weight is less than that. I have never actually had to weigh one to get the plate.
