I thought it would be a simple task to buy an in bed fuel tank to go into the bed of my new 2113 GMC 3500 with a estang encore bed cover. Well it is more of a task to find one than I thought. It seems as though when you look at the spec's for the tanks they show the body height and that does not include the fuel fill neck and cap. So I guess the search will continue till I can find something that will fit under my cover....I guess the fabricators do not take covers into account when designing these tanks....

Not familar with the situation, but doesn't the fill neck also involve a vent?I wouldn't want to vent the tank under the cover...could be an eye opening event!

We replaced our original fuel tank with a Transfer Flow tank that is almost double the capacity and fits in the same spot as our original fuel tank. That way we could continue to us our below the rails tool box and our truck bed cover.

Bob,

I'm guessing you have already considered this option..

Back when my truck was new I went with a mid-ship
replacement tank. No regrets. Never had a problem with
truck warranty, ground clearance, emissions, problems
of any kind. I wish I had gone bigger then 45 gals.
(but not sure if was even an option). Transfer-flo.

Check out Here for in bed tanks as well as tanks that replace the OEM tank for extra capacity and no in bed tank to take up space.

I am not associated with this company in any way other than a happy customer per the info in my signature line.
