Budgeting for an Alaska Trip

I have this on my retirement list :) of trips of a lifetime. will get there hopefully.
but where do you decide to go on limited time. just seeing the map of alaska and all that you would want to see, I mean how do you decide your area of concentration?
where are you going? there is so much alaska, so little time in 10 weeks :)
I plan alaska as my retirement trip because I want total unlimited time restraints. in 8 years when I go, the costs will be much more I am sure!
