I have a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with QDII, and plan on installing the Blue Ox LED Bulb & Socket Wiring Kit, BX88269, along with a Blue Ox Baseplate 1123. Is there any one out there who has a WK Series, made between 2005-2010, that has installed the wiring kit or baseplate to their Jeep Toad ? Any thoughts, comments, warnings?......I already have a '96 Grand Cherokee with Baseplate, and the wiring kit was routed underneath when connecting to the back taillights....but the new instructions suggest running the wires through the firewall and under the carpet back to the tail lights.
Also, did you put the wiring kit in the large red lense, or possibly try the clear backup lense. just curious, thanks in advance for any suggestions
NOt an answer to your question, as I don't have one, but I would first take a look at the COOLTECH website and see if they might have a plug and play harness for your application. I pulled the harness through the frame on my Wrangler with a fish tape and just plugged it into the tail lights as per the instructions. As as alternative and most recently we helped install lights on an older Wrangler for a neighbor and just mounted the lights on a hitch haul with a 4 pin connector. It can even be plugged in to the tow connector, when not being used as a toad or just remove it completely. They will be using theirs while traveling, for carrying their bikes and such or using it for extra cargo. We do the same, except without the light modification and do have COOLTECH'S plug in harness for our Wrangler JKU as stated.
