A friend of had the same thing happen around the same time. A big fully dressed 1 yr old HD. He says he has half a hardware store in his leg. Now he's retired and has switched to powered parachutes.
I had my leg amputated above the knee over 40 yrs ago. Most of my life I've been able to do whatever I wanted. I've climbed towers, also flew powered parachutes, scuba dived, rode motorcycles and so on. I'm having back problems, probably from walking compensations. I've had hip injections, MRI, therapy, now doing acupuncture. I take pain medication that lets me do mostly what I want but never pain free. I've found the best thing is to try and keep busy with something that occupies my hands and mind.
As I'm sure you know it's very hard to get up when you've been in a sitting or lying position on the ground. Gravity is quickly becoming my biggest enemy. It seems to gain strength as the day gets longer.
I strongly agree with seeing a pain management specialist. When you do have them check your gait. If they can suggest a way of walking to ease the strain on you back or other leg, practice it and it will save more pain down the road.
Another thing I do is to try and make someone else laugh everyday. Never tell them what they expect to hear. When they ask how I'm doing, I answer "Terrible, I have to put up with me".
Good luck and God Bless.
