In your part of the coast, and my part too, you are told to shut off your propane valves while on a ferry. I have been notified that they did check and found me not completely shut off (the fridge just sips) but that could certainly be the cause of a ticket. Certainly if they walk by your RV and they hear your fridge burner running, you are guilty as charged.
