The Ford 6.7 scorpion and 6r140 torqueshift have proven to be hugely reliable. Not sure why it was discredited so soon. Good luck with any dpf equipped vehicle.
Not sure where you get this info from but it's less than accurate.
Hugely? That may be a bit exaggerated. All three have good dependable transmissions. Let's not forget, only Chrysler offers the the longest power train warranty. Engine reliability, well, the Duramax and Powerstroke's have a long history of issues as their designs have progressed but no one has caused hardships to owners like Ford has with Powerstroke warranty denials.
The current Powerstroke design has somewhat bridged the differences between the low end torque of an in-line six cylinder and a V8 design. Ford and their design partner (AVL) found a way to get a longer stroke in a V8 configuration. This leaves the Duramax in the dust and the Powerstroke out front.
When it comes to making a choice for reliability, Cummins still holds the title. May be the new Powerstroke is reliable but that will have to be earned over time.
