I would avoid an Orphaned unit. While it's not the end of the world having factory support can be invaluable. I know I can take my unit back to the factory service center and have almost any component rebuilt.
Granted I'm not looking to haul my rig back to Indiana but it give me peace of mind to know the factory is there for me in case of a catastrophic failure of some sort.
I personally know of Open Range owners having repairs done at the factory making various component better than new.
Theses were not warranty repairs necessarily, but slides have been entirely rebuilt or leveling systems replaced. The owners often paid for repairs done at the factory. However repairs were always done with all the latest updates and improvements and at reasonable prices. A 2009 unit had slides updated to 2015 standards. You cannot get this type of support from a dealer.
Now if you have an orphan unit the sky is not necessarily going to fall.
But why buy into a unit that lacks factory support if there are other options?
