Buying New Tires ?

Just a little reminder for anyone looking at buying new tires.
Make sure and check the DOT date stamp on the tires BEFORE they are mounted and make sure they are fairly new.

Just purchased a new to us MH from a private seller.
He was saying the tires were just replaced 2 months ago.
From a reputable Nation Wide Brand Tire shop.
I have the receipt he had them replace in April.

Well after crawling around it noticed the DOT dates
5016 (50th week in 2016) and 0315 (3rd week in 2015) on the front wheels.
Can't see the rears because they are on the other side of the sidewall.

Basically the one tire has sat in a warehouse somewhere for over a year and a half.

So check those DOT dates before signing on the dotted line...

  • 6 months or less from production date is what I ask for. If they can't get them in this range I go elsewhere!
  • I TELL THE DEALER UP FRONT. I,ll check the date codes before I pay the bill if there more than six months old I do not want them.
  • I had to replace my smoke/CO2 detector, and same thing. Ordered online after researching the 7 year life span of the detectors.. it lasted about right. The new one was a year old already. Gave them a bad report, but didn't hear anything back.
