California Dreaming

You are going to start the next California Rush, the "Cold Rush" as in getting away from it. :C

we've been traveling in CA for the last two months. Will head to Q soon, then come back to CA!

Toasty warm down here, worked up a sweat yesterday :)

We camped Christmas week just up the road from home in our National Forest at the 5600 foot level and had 55 degree day time and 42 night time temps. The wind, though, made it a bit uncomfortable outside. So other than for for walking the mutts off and on the time was mostly spent reading all week long. And we were the only rig there most of the time with over 100 spaces available, maybe 2 or 3 others would come and go for a day or two.) Total cost: Camping $70, fuel $28, Nighttime propane maybe $20 as a wild guess.

California is a wonderful state to travel in with a wide variety of different things to see and to. Unfortunately a large segment of the RV population seem to get an upset stomach at just the thought of crossing into California.

About the only thing that would keep us out of another state would be open warfare.

My son lives in CA, near Visalia. That area has been experiencing unseasonably cold weather. Many nights have been below freezing.
Oh, well, at least he hasn't had any below zero like we have had...

California dreaming sometimes is rather nightmareish!

With diesel over the $4.00 mark, "traveling" in California is expensive. State Park fees averaging $45-50/night also make it even less attractive.

We just finished three weeks in California and yes, the weather was nice, except for the windy conditions in SoCal...NorCal was very nice though......Dennis

Don't need to go that far south, as stated before the Oregon Coast was very nice last week!

We are currently in Beaumont, CA. We will be in the area for 5 weeks before we go back to Lake Havasu, AZ. area for 5 weeks. Then we will work our way home in MN. By May . We don't miss the cold -20.

I plan on being there in about 6+ weeks. Hopefully the weather will still good, and crowds will still be manageable.

There is less traffic in general and fewer crowds at tourist areas and cheaper rates in some cases as well. Also less need for reservations and that makes for a more open travel schedule.

I have to agree 100%

I believe lot's of Southern Californian's take advantage of winter camping. I know I do. I think the difference is you do not see as many out of state campers as they have to transit wintery area's. I camp twice as much in the winter as the summer. Less skeeters and partiers.
