When camping with no time limit, I use wood. Pull out my knife and make some shavings and a hatchet and it takes about 7-10 min. Assuming I'm using seasoned wood that I brought along. If I'm running late in a hurry, I'll pull out the propane torch and some cardboard. I see no need for "firestarter." All they need is fuel and oxygen and a little tiny bit of patience.
The trick is if you want more heat or you want the fire to grow quickly, bring a small fan. I use an 18v Ryobi fan. It will get a few tiny flames up to a roar in 1-2 min. And the fan is quiet, easy.
