Campfires, fer em or again em!!!

Given the following conditions:

1: The ground is not a tinderbox where a single spark might cause a horrid forest fire.

2: Water is present for a "cold out" extinguishing.

3: The firepit or fireplace is safe and OK to use.

Then, by all means, I'm for a campfire. However, a couple years back, I've had to evacuate because of a forest fire within miles of where I was boondocking, and I really don't want a repeat.
