Due to family issues we have not been able to take a trip in our RV for 2 years. Finally able to get away we headed to our favorite spot, Flagstaff, AZ for 2 weeks. We have been RV'ing for many years and this year was our worst experience ever. First of all the KOA raised their prices significantly since our last stay. Second, camping etiquette was non existent. During our stay we had numerous people walking through our campsite heading to the showers. We would be sitting outside and they would just walk through without even an apology. I started to tell people to stop cutting through and they looked at me like I was a jerk. I told them they were agitating my dog. I believe most of these people were new to camping or renting those RV's. Guy next door with 4 barking dogs was another issue. I may be getting old but courtesy for your neighbors seems to be at an all time low. Just venting.!!!

Your experience is why I boondock most of the time. Once I “butted” my TV into my TT making travel through my outdoor living room impossible.

WAAAAYYYYY to many people these days have no consideration for anybody else.May I suggest getting a set of those little stand-up fencing units that dog owners sometimes set up to contain fido and using them to fence off a "dog run" on the back side of your lot. Don't need the dog, just the fenced area blocking access.Alternatively, take note of where they are camped and make a point of strolling through their site while they are outside eating dinner or something. Be sure to help yourself to a hot dog or a handful of chips off somebody's plate. Might not get the message through, but ought to give them something to think about.

Sorry to hear that. We haven't been camping in 3 years. This will be our month to go for 3 weeks. Please wish us luck.

I really think the part of the brain that deals with consideration for others has withered up and died in most people.

I am on a month's trip right now and have found more inconsiderate campers this time around. Cutting through, parking on what I would consider to be my assigned lot space.. I have a cocker spaniel and hope he don't get spooked by a stranger walking through. I am out there with him, but dang, there is no courtesy. And, it is not just KOA's.

May I suggest boondocking, dispersed camping seems to keep the riffraff away. We boondock for the peace and quiet away from everyone.
Campgrounds have gotten to be just large parking lots (pack as many in for the $$$) and just outside your door is the sewer dump from the camper next to you and a picnic table for you to enjoy, don't you just love it.

For a fact. Most commercial RV parks arrange the sites to maximize the number of RVs they can squeeze in. Get into RV parks with large roomy sites and most likely you will be paying a premium.

You are so right. This is another side benefit brought to you by environmentalists. In the early 70’s they got laws passed prohibiting emptying gray water on the ground. They claimed little critters would eat soap filled food bits coming from the kitchen sink and get poisoned. Ok, we can all go with that. But was it enough? No no no. Then years later we wind up with EPA regs saying all private campgrounds must have sewer at every spot. Ever notice county state and national parks usually don’t have this “amenity”? Hahaha mr small business man, we’re exempt because it costs the government too much. Easy to see why the prices are high. Not just this regulation but all combined they add up. Gotta love the nanny state!

sewer at every site on private campgrounds??????? Hardly. while we do occasionally use private campgrounds, I seldom if ever have seen one other than very high end sites that have sewer at every site. Often 50% have water/electric but no sewer. doubt seriously it is an EPA reg.

Next time you want to stay in Flagstaff try Bonito national forest campground at the entrance of Sunset Crater Nat'l Monument. It's a beauty. No hookups so have a full fresh water tank when you enter and empty grey/black. We've stayed up to 2 weeks there at times. Much prettier than the KOA and much less price especially if you have the Senior Pass = 1/2 off.

Been doing the Doggie X=Pen stuff for years(of course I have dogs) but your right, it does keep most away from walking through your site and disturbing the dogs....mine like to bark at strangers.
