camping grill/stove

we are new to tt camping but not new to camping. don't like cooking inside if I can help it so we still do it tent style. just came across one of these http://www.coleman.com/product/2-burner-grill-stove-combo/2000004966?contextCategory=27110#.VdcnAGdRHoo has a similar one years ago that was awesome. any thoughts on using this with an adapter to one of my 30lb tanks when cooking on the fire is less than practical?

  • I was looking at walmart yesterday and they had about 4 coleman 2/3 burner stoves/grills. all cheaper than that link.

This is a setup we are looking at for next summer when it is to hot to cook in the TT. For a grill we must have the Q !!
  • I feel the same, hate to cook inside when it is hot out. I have a Camp Chef Everest, that thing crushes my old Coleman 2 burner stove for btu output. Surprisingly it does well on fuel also.
  • That Coleman linked to by the OP is a combination stove & grill ... OK as a stove but a terrible grill in comparison to a Weber Q series grill. Even after all these years I still use a good ol' 2-burner Coleman stove, running it with 16.4 oz canisters as it's so miserly with gas consumption, and a Weber Q120 grill (now the Q1200) which I park on the campsite picnic table and run with a 5 lb propane tank, and although I do have all the necessary hoses and fittings to run both off one of the trailer tanks I find this to be the easiest solution for me.

My Freedom Express actually came with a built in Coleman grill which is about the dumbest idea on the planet as I sure don't want a grill smoking under the awning and even less so do I want greasy grill odours introduced into the trailer when the grill is stored. Dumb, dumb, dumb :S so I removed it and replaced it with my trusty 2-burner Coleman stove. :B

X2 That grill can't be beat.

  • clicky for above Too small for me, I use one like this --> Coleman Grill. 20,000 btu's and comes with its own stand that folds for easy storage.

I also have a portable 2 burner propane stove (similar to what you have above) I can use for boiling water for noodles, or whenever I need burners.
