We camp almost exclusively in areas that have very high bear density and most of them have pretty strict rules regarding food and garbage handling. Most of the places do not allow any food or garbage to be left out whenever your campsite is unattended. Interestingly, we are allowed to leave BBQs and grills out as long as they are cleaned.
Planning to cook and eat in your vehicle is overkill. Just make sure your food is stored there. Also, run your BBQ for a few minutes on high after you are finished to burn off all the grease.
If you are really worried, book sites in the middle of the campground because there is no way a bear will make it to you without you knowing about it!
